For people outside of Alberta, there is a misconception that Canadian winters, especially ours here in Calgary, are much like those seen in Hollywood movies — long, dark and never ending. While this winter may have been exceptionally rough, as was the case throughout most of Canada and even the United States, on average, Calgary winters are relatively mild when compared to Edmonton and other Northern Alberta cities. As spring comes, aside from winter sports, you can see everything else there is to love about this city. The summers are beautiful, and there are plenty of parks, festivals and outdoor areas to enjoy. Calgary usually averages around 23 degrees in July, making for a wonderful summer. The weather is yet another reason this city is unique and although we sometimes complain about the cold and snow, it’s not enough to drive us away as year after year, we stay and play!
